In order to avoid overcrowding, or the likelihood of overcrowding, the Board of Trustees of Normandale School has adopted an enrolment scheme which has been approved by the Ministry of Education. Under this scheme, students will be enrolled if they live within the Normandale School as described below.
All students who live within the home zone described below shall be entitled to enrol at Normandale School.
Start point: At the intersection of Normandale Road with Miromiro Road (both sides in zone).
The boundary runs along Normandale Road. Streets off Normandale Road that are in zone include Pekanga Road, Poto Road and Cottle Park Drive. All roads that exit off these named streets are also in zone.
The boundary continues on along Sweetacres Drive until the intersection with Hill Road. All residential addresses on Sweetacres Drive, including numbers 24 and 15, and all roads that exit off it are in zone. All residential addresses on Hill Road are not in zone.
The boundary runs from the end of Sweetacres Drive and crosses west to meet with Normandale Road at the intersection with Belmont Old Coach Road. The boundary crosses west to meet Stratton Street number 282. All residential addresses on Stratton Street and all roads that exit off it are in zone.
Southbound along Stratton Street, the boundary continues from the intersection with Poto Road, Martin Grove and Miromiro Road, to the intersection of Miromiro Road with Dowse Drive, and then to the intersection of Dowse Drive (276 and 283) with Oakleigh Street. All residential addresses on these named streets are in zone.
All streets off Oakleigh Street are in zone including Honeysuckle Grove, Wattle Grove, Lime Grove, Otonga Heights and Cherry Blossom Grove.
Maungaraki Road and all Dowse Drive addresses beyond 276 and 283 are not in zone.
From the intersection of Miromiro Road with Dowse Drive, the boundary continues along Miromiro St to the intersection of Miromiro Road with Normandale Road. Johns Way and Hunts Close which run off Miromiro Road are in zone. Mulberry Street is not in zone.
This will mean the children from families who live in our home zone will have the absolute right to enrol at Normandale School. All other enrolments will be subjected to the enrolment scheme legislation. All children currently enrolled and enrolled before the scheme commences shall be considered as ‘in zone’ students.
NOTE: ‘Enrolled’ means has turned five and is present at school.
Enrolment scheme legislation defines the priority of enrolment for students who live out of home zone:
First priority must be given to any applicant who is accepted for enrolment in a special programme run by the school:
Second priority must be given to any applicant who is the sibling of a current student of the school:
Third priority must be given to any student who is the sibling of a former student of the school:
Fourth priority must be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school:
Fifth priority must be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school:
Sixth priority must be given to all other applicants.
